Where to swim on Premuda
Two beaches at the harbour, both an easy walk from the house, and a coastline of quiet coves that only a boat can reach. Clear water, bright sandy floors, room to yourselves.
Harbour beaches
Down by the harbour are two swimming beaches, both an easy stroll away, for anyone who would rather not take a boat.
Main beach by the church
The island's largest beach, on the left-hand side by the church at the old harbour. Plenty of room to spread out, a roped-off swimming area, and a few steps from the village. On hot days half the island is here.
Harbour beach
On the right-hand side by the Celestina restaurant, where the ferries dock. An easy entry into clear water, and the islanders swim here themselves. Good for a quick dip between things.
The bays
Beyond the village, Premuda's coast frays into a string of quiet coves. Reachable only by boat, and on some days entirely your own. Drop anchor, jump in, lose track of the day.
Dobra
The southernmost bay on the island: wide, quiet and reachable only by boat. Depending on the wind the water lies perfectly flat, and it shelters best from the south. Anchor, swim, drift.

A remote bay reachable only by boat, and well worth the trip. The wide, bright sandy seabed makes Kalpić one of the island's best spots for snorkelling: clear water, and if you look carefully you might find the odd shell. Because so few people come by, storm debris washes up here too.

View pageAfter the winter and spring storms the sea washes debris into the bays. The islanders clean the village beaches regularly. The remote coves are looked after almost entirely by volunteer boaters, and sometimes by school classes staying at the house who take a cleanup on as a project. Take a rubbish bag along on your boat trip; it helps.
