Hikes
The whole island can be explored on foot in an afternoon. Narrow paths and a single road lead through olive groves and fragrant macchia: up to the old radar station, down to hidden swimming coves, out to the bunkers.
The paths are unmarked, and the host is happy to point you to the trailheads on arrival. Pack sturdy shoes, water and sun protection, as shade is scarce along the way.
A steady climb to the island's highest point, where the old military radar station looks out over the sea. At the top the view opens across the whole archipelago, on clear days far beyond the neighbouring islands. Best in the early evening, when the light turns soft.
From the village, head past the supermarket towards the island's waste tip. Just before it, a narrow path branches off to the left into the scrub. Keep following it until it ends at the old bunkers. An atmospheric piece of island history, slowly reclaimed by the macchia, with a wide view over the coast. Sturdy shoes recommended.
A short walk down to Loza bay and its old jetty. As a place to swim it is the quiet alternative to the harbour beach: a bathing ladder, enough depth to jump off the jetty into clear water, and in high summer, when every guest is down by the village, usually nobody but you.
